TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC), the company behind Whoosh high-speed rail, warns users against scams through the messaging app WhatsApp, especially those offering ticket purchases or travel services under fake phone numbers, as reported by Antara.
"We urge the public to not only look at the logos, names, or schedules provided, but always ensure that the number contacted and the transaction channel used are official Whoosh channels," said KCIC's Corporate Secretary General Manager Eva Chairunisa in a statement received in Bandung on Wednesday, 29 July 2026.
According to her, scammers often use Whoosh's name, logo, travel schedules, and visual materials to convince potential victims that the services come from official entities.
KCIC emphasizes that they never direct ticket payments to personal accounts or accounts provided through unofficial WhatsApp numbers.
One of the scamming methods discovered were social media ads impersonating Whoosh and directing the public to contact specific WhatsApp numbers.
Subsequently, the scammers provide travel schedules resembling official services, request personal data, and direct payments to individual accounts. The perpetrators also often offer promotions or travel facilities that do not correspond to official Whoosh services.
KCIC asserts that Whoosh tickets can only be purchased through official sales channels, namely the Whoosh application, ticket.kcic.co.id website, counters and Ticket Vending Machines at Whoosh stations, Access by KAI, Livin' by Mandiri, BRImo, wondr by BNI, Tiket.com, Traveloka, and Trip.com.
"Meanwhile, the Whoosh Contact Center service at 0811-8888-111 is used for information, criticism, suggestions, complaints, group bookings, and travel vouchers," she said.
Furthermore, she urged the public to maintain vigilance against suspicious links or documents sent through Whoosh impersonators.
"If indications of fraud are found, immediately stop communication and transactions, keep conversation evidence, block the number, and report it to the relevant platform and the Whoosh Contact Center," Eva said.
