The Crystal Palace Football Club has emerged victorious against Liverpool in the 2025 Community Shield. They claimed the title after a 3-2 penalty shootout victory at Wembley Stadium, London, on Sunday evening WIB (Western Indonesian Time), August 10, 2025. The penalty shootout took place after both teams were tied 2-2 at the end of regular time.
Crystal Palace has clinched the Community Shield for the first time, becoming the 24th club to win this trophy.
Palace now joins an exclusive list alongside Newcastle United, West Ham United, and Aston Villa, each having won the trophy once.
Manchester United still leads the Community Shield champions' list with 21 titles, followed by Arsenal with 17 and Liverpool with 16.
The game against Liverpool at Wembley Stadium on Sunday evening concluded dramatically with Palace's victory in a penalty shootout. The first half ended with Liverpool leading 2-1 after goals from Hugo Ekitike and Jeremie Frimpong were answered by Jean-Philippe Mateta from a penalty kick.
In the second half, Ismaila Sarr leveled the score to 2-2, forcing the game into a penalty shootout. Dean Henderson became Palace's hero by saving penalties from Mohamed Salah and Harvey Elliott, securing a 3-2 victory for his team.
This title complements Crystal Palace's success in winning the FA Cup last season.
