TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Former Bank Indonesia Governor Perry Warjiyo has congratulated the central bank's newly appointed Governor, Destry Damayanti, following her official confirmation during a House of Representatives (DPR) plenary session on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.
Perry also delivered a message to the newly designated BI Board of Governors. In a written statement, the former governor who stepped down in late July extended his congratulations to Destry on her appointment for the 2026–2031 tenure, alongside Aida S. Budiman as Senior Deputy Governor and Solikin M. Juhro as Deputy Governor.
"I hope the new Board of Governors can strengthen Bank Indonesia's mandate to preserve stability and support sustainable economic growth amid ongoing global turbulence," Perry stated on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.
He also expressed his appreciation for the trust bestowed upon him throughout his tenure at the central bank. Perry Warjiyo had previously announced his voluntary resignation on Monday, July 27, 2026, citing personal reasons.
This written statement marks Perry’s first public release since relinquishing the leadership of the central bank. "May Almighty God continually grant grace and protection to Bank Indonesia in fulfilling its mandate for the progress of the national economy," Perry added.
The DPR plenary session formally approved Destry as governor after she served as acting governor following Perry's departure. President Prabowo had earlier submitted Destry Damayanti as the sole nominee for the governorship of Bank Indonesia.
