TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Persija Jakarta football club remains committed to supporting coach Shin Tae-yong, who was sanctioned by the Korea Football Association (KFA) following an incident of physical violence while managing South Korean club Ulsan HD.
Shin received a one-year disciplinary ban from all South Korean football activities for slapping Ulsan HD defender Jung Seung-hyun in 2025.
"We fully support Shin Tae-yong continuing his duties as Persija's head coach, and all team elements are currently focused on preparing for the 2026 President's Cup and the 2026/2027 Super League," Persija President Mohamad Prapanca said in an official statement on Sunday, July 26, as reported by Antara.
"We hope that all team members will not be affected by the current situation and stay focused on improving the team's performance," he added.
Shin remains free to carry out professional duties outside the jurisdiction of South Korean football.
Persija management respects the KFA's decision, yet continues to extend its full trust and backing to the South Korean coach as he builds the squad.
The former Indonesian national team head coach recently signed a three-season deal with Persija running through 2029.
