
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto met with his South Korean counterpart Lee Jae-myung on Wednesday morning, April 1, 2026, at Cheong Wa Dae, also known as the Blue House. Indonesia's Presidential Secretariat's live broadcast displayed the official state welcome ceremony for Prabowo's arrival.
President Lee Jae-myung was seen awaiting the arrival of Prabowo and his entourage. When the black car carrying Prabowo arrived, President Lee welcomed him immediately. The two national leaders were seen shaking hands and embracing.
President Prabowo and President Lee then participated in the state welcome ceremony, where both countries' national anthems, 'Aegukga' and 'Indonesia Raya,' were played.
Following the welcome ceremony, the two leaders introduced their respective delegation.
Prabowo introduced his entourage, which includes Foreign Minister Sugiono; Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto; and Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia; Danantara CEO Rosan Perkasa Roeslani; Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono; Minister of Communication and Digital Meutya Hafid; Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya; as well as the Indonesian Ambassador for South Korea, Cecep Herawan.
After the introduction, President Prabowo and President Lee entered the Blue House, the office for South Korea's president.
As reported by the South Korean news agency Yonhap, the spokesperson for the South Korean President, Kang Yu-jung, stated that the two leaders would discuss practical cooperation in various sectors, including trade, investment, the defense and security industry, intellectual property, infrastructure, shipbuilding, nuclear energy, energy transition, and the cultural sector.
President Prabowo and President Lee Jae-myung would reportedly also discuss ways to enhance the ties between ASEAN and South Korea. Both leaders also planned to discuss security situations and other global issues, including those regarding the Korean Peninsula and West Asia.
President Prabowo arrived in South Korea on the Garuda Indonesia-1 aircraft, which landed at the Seongnam Military Air Base on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, around 07:15 p.m. local time.
