TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto offered real, transparent, and profitable investments to Japanese businesspeople at the Indonesia-Japan Business Forum as part of his working visit to Japan.
"All our projects must be feasible, must be bankable, must provide real benefits, a real return on investment," said Prabowo at a forum held at the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo on Monday, as quoted by Antara.
In his speech, the president emphasized that the Indonesian government prioritizes a results-based approach to every investment project offered to global partners. He stressed the importance of ambitious projects that are also financially viable and will have a tangible impact on the national economy.
The president also stated that Indonesia is open to international collaboration, especially with Japan, as it is considered competitive in many sectors. He believes that Japan has technological, methodological, and industrial advantages that can be combined with Indonesia's natural and human resources.
"That's why we are very open to Japan's active participation, Japanese technology, Japanese experience, Japanese methods," said the president, explaining the reasons for strengthening the partnership.
The president explained that, in addition to conventional investments, the government is offering long-term strategic partnership schemes. To this end, Indonesia has established a sovereign wealth fund that consolidates state-owned assets and companies under a single, integrated management system.
He emphasized that the fund's management is based on good governance principles, including applying global best practices and making firm efforts to eradicate corruption. The government is committed to implementing rational management strategies to prevent abuse of authority within the investment bureaucracy.
"We want rational management and best practices. We want to eradicate corruption and abuse of authority," said the president, emphasizing Indonesia's commitment to transparency.
The president revealed that the initial results of the fund's management have shown positive developments for the state's asset portfolio. Several assets recorded significant increases in the first year of operation, with returns approaching 300 percent.
"Some of them have resulted in nearly a 300 percent increase in asset returns. This is very encouraging," he explained to the Japanese businesspeople.
In closing his speech, the president once again called on global investors to establish closer partnerships with Indonesia, especially in developing the manufacturing industry. He emphasized that Indonesia is seeking partners willing to grow together through sustainable technology transfer.
"We are looking for partners who are ready to join us in developing the industry, transferring technology, and growing together," the president concluded.
