TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and Russian President Vladimir Putin, in a meeting at the Kremlin Palace in Moscow, have agreed to enhance cooperation in various fields. The meeting between Prabowo and Putin took place for approximately five hours on Monday, April 13, 2026, local time.
President Putin stated that Indonesia and Russia always prioritize key sectors for bilateral cooperation. Putin also mentioned that both sides have frequently discussed opportunities for cooperation in strategic areas.
"Among others, we discussed cooperation in the energy sector, space, agriculture, industrial output, and pharmaceuticals," Putin said at the Kremlin Palace in Moscow, Russia, on Monday, quoted from the live broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube channel.
In addition, Putin continued, the two countries also place great significance on developing cooperation in humanitarian fields, such as in education.
President Putin also highlighted the progress in economic and trade cooperation between Indonesia and Russia. According to Putin, the trade value between the two countries has significantly increased by 12 percent.
"At the beginning of this year, we witnessed a slight slowdown in bilateral trade, but we have various ways to increase it. We place great importance on the joint intergovernmental commission," Putin stated.
Putin hoped that his meeting with Prabowo could be a moment to explore various solutions to further enhance the partnership between the two countries.
During the same occasion, President Prabowo expressed that several cooperation agreements previously discussed have shown significant progress in various sectors. "Almost all the areas that we agreed on a few months ago have shown rapid progress. There are one or two areas that need to be expedited, which I will personally handle," Prabowo informed Putin.
Prabowo then emphasized Indonesia's commitment to strengthen cooperation with Russia, particularly in the economic and energy sectors. Prabowo hopes that a stronger synergy in these fields can lead to tangible benefits for both countries. "If possible, let's continue to strengthen cooperation, especially in the economic and energy sectors," Prabowo stated.
