CANTIKA.COM, Jakarta - Searching for a hotel online often feels like navigating a long corridor full of options. Every click opens up new possibilities to find the best price. However, behind that, there is one factor that often escapes attention, namely the time of your booking.

Data from HotelTonight shows that hotel room prices move in a certain pattern. It's not random, but rather like waves that rise and fall following the rhythm of travelers' behavior. Sundays, for example, are considered the calmest point in the week and become the moment when prices tend to decline. "Around 16 percent cheaper than on Fridays or Saturdays," said Ron Sandel to Travel + Leisure. Yes, while many people are still enjoying the remnants of the weekend, hotel prices slowly drop, providing an opportunity for those who can read the momentum.

Every Destination Has Its Own Rhythm

However, not all travel destinations move in the same pattern, where major cities and holiday destinations have different price fluctuations. In major cities around the world, where business travel dominates, prices are usually higher in the middle of the week. When corporate activities reach their peak, hotel rates also rise, on the contrary, when Sunday arrives, the pressure eases and as a result, bookings on that day can be 28 percent more affordable than on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Not only the day, how you access the booking platform can also affect the figures that appear on the screen. Research from Which? found that some listings on Booking.com offer special prices for mobile users. In some cases, the price difference is quite noticeable, as if there's a different path between the small screen in your hand and the large screen on the desk.

Days with Higher Prices

Like the ebb and flow pattern, there are also moments when prices reach their peak. In big cities, Tuesdays and Wednesdays are often the days with higher rates, following the busy business agenda. While in holiday destinations, Fridays and Saturdays are peak times, when tourists start arriving and demand surges.

One thing that may seem contrary to long-standing habits is that booking too far in advance doesn't always guarantee the best price. "Booking at the last minute is always the right way," said Sandel. "For example, on Sundays, booking on the same day is 22 percent cheaper than booking a week earlier," he added. In this context, postponing doesn't mean risking, but it can be a strategy, as long as you are flexible enough.

There is no exact formula that can guarantee the cheapest price for all trips. However, understanding this pattern provides an important advantage, where you no longer just guess, but read the rhythm. Choosing the right day, being flexible, and daring to wait until the last moment can make the booking experience more rewarding.
