TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Whatsapp is reportedly preparing a subscription scheme specifically for its premium account holders. The subscription feature will be called WhatsApp Plus, which offers a number of additional customization options, ranging from changing themes to interface elements.
Through this premium subscription scheme, customers will gain access to exclusive features that can pin up to 20 chats at once. Additionally, there will be exclusive ringtones and unique sticker features that can only be accessed by premium WhatsApp users.
Although projected to switch to a subscription scheme, the latest leaks mention that the free service in this messaging app owned by Meta will not disappear. Users can still send messages as usual. "It is not yet clear when this premium product will be launched or how much the subscription will cost, but we will inform you as soon as we know more," reads the report by GSM Arena on Thursday, March 5, 2026.
Furthermore, the report also states that the subscription service is optional and is guaranteed not to change the basic functionality for standard app users in general. Analysts also provide assurances regarding the target market for this latest feature so as not to cause concerns for the public.
