TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Foreign ministers of the Arab League have called for urgent international intervention to protect Palestinians while firmly rejecting any attempt to forcibly displace them from their homeland.
The demand was formalized on Monday, September 7, through a series of resolutions adopted at the close of an Arab League ministerial summit in Cairo, Egypt.
Foreign ministers urged the global community, specifically the United Nations and its Security Council, to intervene immediately to shield Palestinians from ongoing attacks and violence by Israeli occupation forces.
They appealed for political, financial, and legal backing for the joint Arab-Islamic recovery and reconstruction blueprint for Gaza, while advocating for an international donor conference in Cairo to mobilize necessary funding.
Furthermore, the ministers called for the full implementation of all phases of the Gaza ceasefire agreement established at the 2025 Sharm el-Sheikh Peace Summit, demanding a complete end to Israeli military strikes and the swift initiation of rebuilding efforts.
The delegates steadfastly rejected any displacement of Palestinians or unilateral attempts to alter the demographic balance of the occupied Palestinian territories, including measures Israel labels "voluntary migration."
They cautioned that any forced expulsion would amount to ethnic cleansing and a flagrant breach of international law.
The council further condemned Israeli operations in Gaza, citing acts of genocide, forced starvation, total siege, war crimes, and crimes against humanity.
The ongoing Israeli military offensive has claimed the lives of over 73,000 Palestinians and injured more than 174,000 others, destroying or severely damaging much of Gaza's civilian infrastructure.
