Bali Hotels Most Sought-After During Eid al-Fitr Holiday Season

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Hotel Indonesia Natour or InJourney Hospitality unveiled an upward trend of hotel occupancy during the 2025 Eid al-Fitr holiday season. The average occupancy rates of InJourney-managed hotels this season is 79 percent, with the highest being those in Bali at 81.2 percent. This was followed by the Javanese cluster at 76.7 percent and Sumatra at 75.4 percent.

The Chief Executive of InJourney Hospitality, Christine Hutabarat, stated that the growth this year does not differ significantly compared to last year. “It’s only a one percent increase,” she said at a press conference at Sarinah Building, Jakarta, on Wednesday, March 26, 2025.

Christine added that the hotel with the highest occupancy rate is located in Bali, namely The Meru Sanur, at 98 percent. This hotel, designed for leisure and wellness seekers, is located in the Sanur Special Economic Zone (SEZ) which focuses on healthcare and tourism.

The next highest occupancy rates are at Merusaka Nusa Dua Bali, Truntum Kuta, Inna Sindhu Beach Bali, and The Manohara Yogyakarta. "The occupancy rate peaks on the day of Eid al-Fitr, namely on March 31 and April 1,” said Christine.

As a comparison, during the same period last year, the hotel occupancy rate under InJourney Hospitality reached 77.9 percent with a total of 3,623 units sold.

A staycation experience

Christine mentioned a tourism shift happened after the COVID-19 pandemic, with people seeking activities to do while staying at a hotel. Thus, the first inquiries people ask before booking accommodation are about the activities the hotels are offering for tourists.

Some hotels, such as The Meru Sanur, have developed a variety of wellness activities that guests can participate in throughout the day, such as boxing, yoga, and healing experiences.

Travelers also seek a culinary experience at the hotels now, she said, instead of booking accommodation to sleep overnight. This prompted InJourney to develop a restaurant with an Indonesian signature menu inside a five-star hotel.

Welcoming Eid al-Fitr, InJourney is holding a promotion themed Kembali Fitri Sepenuh Hati, or "The Wholehearted Return to Piety," in several hotels with the Eid Stay Package, Halal Bi Halal Buffet, and Eid gifts.

Some of the hotels include the Inna Bali Heritage Hotel with its Rp144,600 worth Eid Dinner Package, the Patra Bali Resort & Villa Eid-themed package priced at Rp2.7 million, and Truntum Kuta Bali.

The Eid al-Fitr Package is also available at several other hotels, including Khas Parapat in North Sumatra, Merumatta Senggigi in Lombok, Khas Palu, and Trumtum Padang.
