FIFA Reveals Emblem for 2025 U-17 World Cup in Qatar; Draw Set for May 25

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - FIFA, the international football governing body, has launched the official emblem for the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup, which will be held in Qatar from November 3-27. The emblem introduces the new visual identity for the tournament's inaugural edition featuring 48 participating teams.

According to FIFA's official website on Tuesday, the new emblem uses a silhouette of the trophy as negative space within the letter "U" of "U-17." Additionally, the emblem features a spotlight, which is the main symbol chosen to represent the tournament's overall identity.

FIFA stated that the design embodies the global spirit, inclusivity, and dynamism of football, while also representing the journey of young talents progressing from local pitches to the international arena.

“The FIFA U-17 World Cup has proven to be an important stepping stone for the next generation of the world’s best young footballers, who display exceptional skill and dedication,” said FIFA Secretary General Mattias Grafstrom in the press release on Monday.

He added, “The tournament’s new Official Emblem emphasizes the team spirit, youthful audacity, remarkable strength, and optimism which will be on full display in November 2025.”

The 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup is scheduled to take place in Qatar from November 3 to 27. This expanded tournament will feature a total of 104 matches and involve 48 national teams. This edition will be the largest in the history of this youth-level competition.

Germany will participate as the current champion, having won against France in a thrilling final that was decided by a penalty shootout at Manahan Stadium in Solo during the 2023 edition.

The Indonesian U-17 National Team has successfully qualified for the tournament in Qatar after an impressive performance in the 2025 AFC U-17 Championship.

The Garuda Muda secured their qualification for the U-17 World Cup after a convincing 4-1 victory over Yemen in their second Group C match at the Prince Abdullah Al Faisal Sport City Stadium in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on April 7. Subsequently, Indonesia made history by topping their group with a perfect record of three wins.

Meanwhile, Qatar's Minister of Sports and Youth and Chairperson of the Local Organizing Committee, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani, stated that the launch of the tournament's new identity is a crucial component of Qatar's footballing agenda for the next five years.

“Since the start of this decade, Qatar has delivered world-class football events on the regional, continental, and global levels. Turning our attention to youth tournaments was the natural next step, stemming from our long-term investment in youth development in sport,” Sheikh Hamad said.

He expressed hope that the participation of U-17 teams from across the globe in this tournament will provide invaluable experience and a glimpse into the future for young players on the international stage.

FIFA has scheduled the draw for the group stage of the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup to occur in Doha on May 25 and will broadcast it live on the FIFA+ platform.
