TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Minister of Housing and Settlement Maruarar Sirait stated that next year, the institution will focus on renovating houses owned by the underprivileged. "There are 26.9 million who own houses, but they are not inhabitable," he said during the mass contract signing for 50,030 subsidized housing units at Pondok Banten Indah Housing, Serang, Banten, on Saturday, December 20, 2025.

Maruarar expressed delight as the ministry's budget has increased from Rp5 trillion this year to over Rp10 trillion in 2026. The Ministry of Housing has allocated 80 percent of that budget for the home renovation program. "80 percent of our budget is for the people, for the home renovation program," he said.

In addition, Maruarar quoted data from the Central Statistics Agency indicating that 222 cities and districts did not receive a share of the home renovation program this year. He added that next year, all districts and cities would receive the program. "Next year, all districts and cities will receive the home renovation program," he said.

We have no choice but to work very hard," he said.

According to Maruarar, this mass contract signing is a crucial milestone in accelerating the national housing program. A total of 300 contracts were signed directly at the event location and involved 11 distributing banks. Meanwhile, 49,730 contracts took place online, involving 39 distributing banks spread across 33 provinces at 110 locations in districts/cities throughout Indonesia.
