Indonesian Hospital in Gaza Shuts Down after Drone Strikes, Siege by Israel

10 hours ago 2

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Israeli forces have targeted multiple hospitals in Gaza, including the Indonesian Hospital, in a relentless campaign that has crippled medical facilities across the region. In their latest assault, Israeli drones struck the Indonesian Hospital in northern Gaza, while ground forces launched attacks in both the northern and southern parts of the territory.

Health officials reported Sunday night that intense fighting around the Indonesian Hospital, coupled with a suffocating military siege, forced the facility to shut down. The Indonesian Hospital was a critical healthcare provider in northern Gaza, especially after Israeli airstrikes last year compelled Kamal Adwan and Beit Hanoon hospitals to halt services.

"There was a direct attack on the hospital, including the intensive care unit," said Dr. Marwan al-Sultan, the hospital’s director, in a written statement cited by Al Jazeera.

Two patients were reportedly injured while attempting to flee the embattled facility.

Just days earlier, the European Hospital in Gaza was also rendered inoperable due to Israeli attacks. “We urge all relevant authorities to intervene immediately to provide protection for medical staff, patients, and the wounded inside hospitals,” read a statement quoted by Al Arabiya.
