TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Two political party factions in the Indonesian Parliament's Commission III strongly condemned the alleged corruption cases involving Febrie Adriansyah, a former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes. Adriansyah has been named a suspect in three corruption cases.
Aside from Febrie, a private sector individual named Don Ritto has also been named a suspect. Both are implicated in corruption cases related to PT Asabri, PT Krakatau Steel, and coal supply.
During a special meeting, Nasyirul Falah Amru, a member of the Commission III from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), expressed disappointment over the corruption cases and urged law enforcement to impose severe sanctions on the suspects.
"If possible, they should receive the death penalty, because it affects the lives of many people," he said at the DPR complex in Jakarta on Saturday, July 11, 2026.
He highlighted the corruption case related to coal supply, allegedly involving Febrie Adriansyah, which reportedly caused power outages in several areas.
Two other corruption cases were also deemed equally reprehensible. "Especially when they involve law enforcement authorities whom we hold dear," Amru added.
Similarly, Endang Agustina, a member of the Commission III from the National Mandate Party faction, expressed concern about the alleged corruption involving state officials. She emphasized that the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes should be at the forefront of upholding the law and eradicating corruption.
Endang stated that the Indonesian people are currently facing economic difficulties.
"This is very distressing and should be punished severely, even with the death penalty," Endang said.
The Commission III has formed a special supervisory committee to investigate the corruption cases involving Febrie Adriansyah. This committee will directly monitor the investigation process, from searches to the examination of evidence.
All political party factions in the Commission III agreed to appoint Habiburokhman as the committee's chairman. In his statement, Habiburokhman requested the Attorney General to establish an independent investigative team unaffiliated with the suspects.
The corruption case involving former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes Febrie Adriansyah has been transferred by the police to the Attorney General's Office. Meanwhile, the private sector suspect, Don Ritto, has been detained at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police detention center. Febrie Adriansyah has not been detained.
