TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Iran launched a series of retaliatory attacks on several United States (US) military facilities in Kuwait, Qatar, and Bahrain in response to a US attack in southern Iran, according to a report by Iranian state broadcaster Press TV and cited by Antara.
In response to the US attack in southern Iran, the Iranian military deployed drones to attack a Patriot air defense system, an ammunition depot, and a US military radar facility in Kuwait.
The Patriot air defense system is a US-made missile detector, tracker, and destroyer. Several countries in the Persian Gulf region are known to possess the system, including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The report added that Iran also attacked a US military communications facility and radar facility in Bahrain.
Iranian forces also launched a ballistic missile attack targeting the US Al Udeid air base in Qatar, the broadcaster reported, citing a statement from Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
Al Udeid air base is the largest US military base in the Middle East.
