TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's state-owned railway subsidiary, KAI Commuter, reported a total of 3,582,035 passengers using the electric train (KRL) services from December 18th to 21st, 2025. Karina Amanda, the Vice President Corporate Secretary of KAI Commuter, stated that last Sunday of the Christmas and New Year holiday (Nataru) was dominated by family groups heading to stations near tourist destinations.
"In addition, Commuter Line's intermodal integration stations were also observed to be quite crowded," said Karina in her written statement on Monday, December 22, 2025.
Karina detailed that last Sunday, 36,246 passengers disembarked at Bogor Train Station. Meanwhile, other stations located around tourist destinations such as Jakarta Kota Station recorded 22,680 passengers.
Sudirman Station, integrated with LRT Jabodebek and MRT Jakarta, observed 22,121 people getting off at the station. Additionally, Cawang Station, also integrated with Cikoko LRT Station, recorded 13,814 people.
Around Jakarta, Cikarang Station, integrated with long-distance train journeys and Commuter Line Walahar to Cikampek/Purwakarta, recorded 23,079 passengers. On the Basoetta Commuter Line airport train service, a total of 29,519 passengers were served up to the fourth day of the Nataru transportation period.
"Last Sunday, Soekarno-Hatta Airport Station was the highest destination and departure station with a total of 2,231 users and 2,540 passengers boarding from the station," she said.
Outside Jabodetabek (Greater Jakarta) area, the number of Merak Commuter Line users on the fourth day of the Nataru transportation period reached 55,429 people, with Rangkasbitung Station being the highest departure and arrival station. Specifically, on Sunday, October 21, the station, which is also integrated with the Jabodetabek Commuter Line, recorded an arrival volume of 6,150 people and a departure volume of 5,807 people.
KAI Commuter urges passengers to always prioritize safety and security. "Always keep an eye on children when riding the Commuter Line or when in the station area, and always take care of your belongings," said Karina.
