Police Check Jakarta Churches, Transport Hubs Ahead of Christmas, New Year

TEMPO.COJakarta - The Indonesian National Police checks several places of worship and vital objects in Jakarta in order to secure the celebration of Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026. The checks were conducted at Santa Church, Cathedral Church, Gambir Station, Monas Security Post, and HI Roundabout Security Post.

The inspections took place on Saturday, December 20, 2025, from around 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM. "The checks are carried out to ensure the readiness of personnel, infrastructure, and security measures in the field are in accordance with the plan," said the Head of the Public Relations Task Force for Operation Lilin 2025, Police Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, in a written statement received on Sunday, December 21, 2025.

During the inspection, police personnel engaged in dialogue with the officials and religious leaders at Santa Church and Cathedral Church regarding the readiness for the Christmas 2025 service and the security assurance for the congregation.

In addition, the police engaged in dialogue with the Head of Gambir Station regarding the readiness of service and security for the transportation users. "From the field observations, all visited locations are safe and orderly. The security personnel are complete and ready to carry out their duties according to the designated plans," Trunoyudo said.

He emphasized that the Indonesian National Police will continue to increase preventive measures and integrated security during the implementation of Operation Lilin 2025 for the creation of a conducive security and public order situation.

Operation Lilin will take place for two weeks from December 20, 2025, to January 2, 2026. Approximately 150 joint personnel consisting of the Indonesian National Police, the National Armed Forces of Indonesia (TNI), the Ministry of Transportation, and relevant ministries/agencies are anticipating potential vulnerabilities through Operation Lilin 2025.

There are 2,903 posts prepared by the police to support the operation, which consists of 1,807 security posts, 763 service posts, and 333 integrated posts.

These posts will be spread across all areas, especially those considered prone to traffic jams. "Involving 146,701 joint personnel," said the Chief of the Indonesian National Police Operation Primary Assistant, Police Commissioner General Mohammad Fadil Imran.
