TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian National Police's Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim) has apprehended a dealer with 3,000 pieces of ecstasy pills in the parking lot of the West Jakarta Post Office. Thousands of pink and green ecstasy pills were wrapped in cat food tin cans.
"The team secured two individuals who collected the package. Subsequently, evidence and the two individuals were taken for further development," said Brigadier General Eko Hadi Santoso, Director of Drug Crimes of Bareskrim, in a written statement on Monday, December 22, 2025.
Eko stated that the information regarding the distribution of ecstasy initially arose from the suspicion of the Pasar Baru Customs and Excise team about a package originating from Belgium on Wednesday, December 17, 2025. A day later, the investigative team checked the package and confirmed the presence of ecstasy in the cat food tin cans.
The Bareskrim team then collaborated with the Customs and Excise Office and the West Jakarta Post Office. Finally, two individuals arrived at the West Jakarta Post Office on Monday, December 22, 2025 at 14:30 WIB.
Currently, Bareskrim has only identified one suspect named Mirza Syawanas. In addition to confiscating the ecstasy, the police also seized one of the suspect's mobile phones. Another arrested individual is still being examined. Investigators are also delving into the network involved in the distribution of this type of narcotic.
