Prabowo to Review Cabinet Performance During Hambalang Retreat

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is holding a Red and White Cabinet retreat at his private residence in Hambalang, Bogor, West Java, on Tuesday, January 6, 2026. During the occasion, Prabowo is set to review state programs that have been running during his first year of presidency.

Some of the topics of discussion include the free nutritious meal and the food self-sufficiency programs, according to State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi.

"The ministries are all being evaluated, including by presenting progress reports for ongoing programs over the past year," Prasetyo said in Hambalang.

The retreat is intended to address the challenges faced by ministries and agencies in the cabinet. "Of course, it's an evaluation; if there are still obstacles, they will be discussed during today's retreat," he said, highlighting the free meal program.

The retreat, Prasetyo said, overlapped with the start of the free nutritious meal program a year ago, on January 6, 2025.

Despite this, the retreat was not meant to single out the flagship program. For one, Prasetyo said, Prabowo would also discuss improvements on the food self-sufficiency targets.

Prasetyo claimed that Indonesia had achieved rice self-sufficiency in 2025. "For the first time, we did not import rice in 2025," he said, adding that he's hoping that this achievement could be maintained in 2026.

Prasetyo said there would be other agendas scheduled for the Hambalang retreat. These include energy self-sufficiency, downstream realization, and the activities of the sovereign wealth fund Danantara. He mentioned that this retreat does not have a time limit to discuss various issues.

Several ministers and officials have arrived in Hambalang, Bogor, on Tuesday. In addition to Prasetyo, some ministers who have entered Prabowo's residence complex include Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, Marine Affairs and Fisheries Minister Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, and Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto.
