TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's Telkomsel has rearranged its board of directors by appointing Lionel Chng as the new Marketing Director, replacing Derrick Heng. This appointment is based on an agreement between PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Persero), Tbk. and Singapore Telecom Mobile Pte. Ltd. (Singtel) as the shareholders of Telkomsel.
The appointment was officially announced at the Board of Directors Meeting of PT Telekomunikasi Selular (Telkomsel) held on Wednesday, January 7, 2026. "This step is in line with the direction of post-consolidation telecommunications sector recovery, where competition shifts to a value-based approach, innovation, and customer experience," said Telkomsel's Vice President Corporate Communications and Social Responsibility Abdullah Fahmi in an official statement on Wednesday, January 7, 2026.
Based on information on Telkomsel's official website, Lionel Chng previously served as the Managing Director Customer Success of Singtel. He held that position from 2023 until January 2026. He also served as the Head of Sales Operations at HP Inc in 2022-2023.
Fahmi stated that with the new management structure, the company reaffirms its commitment to strengthening governance and strategic leadership in addressing industry dynamics, as well as preserving profitability and sustainable growth.
He mentioned that Telkomsel will continue to accelerate its growth by strengthening core connectivity through sustained investment in 4G/5G networks, expanding convergence services and digital solutions, and optimizing technology-based capabilities and Artificial Intelligence.
