TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) noted that West Java province remains the area with the highest online gambling transactions in Indonesia from January to March, or the first quarter of 2025. West Java has stayed in first place since 2024.
Meanwhile, Jakarta province ranks second, followed by Central Java, Banten, and East Java. "There is an increase in Jakarta. In the first quarter of 2024, it was ranked fifth, and now it's second," said the Head of PPATK, Ivan Yustiavandana, at the Indonesian National Police's Bareskrim building on Wednesday, May 7, 2025.
Ivan mentioned that data on areas with the highest online gambling transactions constantly change. However, West Java has been the most stable and consistent area in maintaining its first-place since 2023.
Nationally, in terms of the number of online gambling transactions, there were 39,818,000 transactions in the first quarter of 2025. Ivan projected that by the end of 2025, the total online gambling transactions would not exceed 160,000,000.
Ivan said that the number of transactions decreased by 80 percent compared to the same period last year. In total, there were 209 million online gambling transactions throughout 2024. "The data shows a significant decrease," Ivan said.
