1,300 Former Sritex Employees Rehired by New Investor

TEMPO.CO, Sukoharjo - Around 1,300 former employees of PT Sri Rejeki Isman Textile Tbk. (Sritex) have been rehired by a company leasing Sritex's assets. The new investor reportedly began operations in early May 2025.

Andreas, Secretary of the All-Indonesian Workers Union (SPSI) at Sritex Sukoharjo, confirmed the rehiring.
"Yes, it's true there is a report that a lessee of the Sritex factory has brought back former garment division employees. The number is approximately 1,300," Andreas told Tempo on Thursday, May 22, 2025.

According to Andreas, the workers are now employed by PT Citra Busana Semesta (CBS). The factory, located on Jalan Samanhudi Number 88, Ngemplak, Jetis, Sukoharjo, is near the main Sritex complex.

"It's called Garmen 10, part of Sritex's seized assets that are now leased. From what we know, the investor has already started operating," he added.

Andreas also mentioned that the former employees have not seen Iwan Kurniawan Lukminto, President Director of Sritex, since their last meeting regarding severance pay and the 2025 religious holiday allowance (THR).

To pursue the rights of laid-off employees, SPSI has submitted demands through the legal team appointed by the Central Java branch of KSPSI to the Sritex curator.

Separately, Sumarno, Head of the Industry and Manpower Office of Sukoharjo Regency, also confirmed the report.

"Yes, that's correct. Around early May 2025, Mr. Basuki from PT CBS's HRD informed our office that the company had started operations," he said.

Sumarno noted that PT CBS officially began operating on May 5, 2025, and hired 1,300 former Sritex workers.
