East Jakarta Police Remove 14 Mass Organization Flags

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The police have taken down a total of 14 flags belonging to mass organizations at four locations in East Jakarta as part of Operation Brantas Jaya 2025.

"As part of Operation Brantas Jaya 2025, we conducted the regulation and removal of 14 flags of mass organizations installed along the roadsides and public areas yesterday afternoon," said East Jakarta Police Chief Commissioner Nicolas Ary Lilipaly in Jakarta on Tuesday, May 13, 2025.

Of the 14 flags removed, 10 belonged to the Forum Betawi Rempug (FBR) and four to the United Indonesian People's Movement (GRIB Jaya).

During the operation, a joint team swept through four key areas where the flags had been installed. These locations included the area in front of Nurul Ihsan Mosque, Cipinang Jaya Road, the vicinity of the Cipinang Jaya gas station, in front of Jatinegara Station, East Bekasi Road, and along East Jatinegara Road.

Nicolas explained that this enforcement is part of the police's ongoing efforts to maintain public spaces free from symbols that may pose a threat to security.

He emphasized that the action was carried out with firmness and in a humane manner, reflecting the state's neutral stance toward all groups. "We are committed to creating an orderly, safe, and inclusive East Jakarta for all residents. There should be no symbols of mass organizations that intimidate or create an impression of territorial dominance," said Nicolas.

He also affirmed that similar operations will continue to be held regularly to preserve a safe, orderly, and harmonious environment in the community.

East Jakarta Regional Police Chief of Operations AKBP Rahmat Eko Mulyadi noted that the enforcement involved 52 personnel from the military, police, and public order agency.

"We conducted this enforcement in accordance with leadership directives to maintain the neutrality of public spaces," he said.

Rahmat warned that randomly installed attributes could spark social tension or give the impression of control by certain groups. "This is a preventive measure for the common order and security," Rahmat said.

He also expressed hope that the operation would help uphold public order and deter potential disturbances within the East Jakarta Police jurisdiction.
