TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Commission on Hajj notes a surge in complaints from Indonesian pilgrims at the start of this year's departure. Mustolih Siradj, the commission's chairperson, stated that the reports cover various issues, ranging from pilgrims' lost luggage to confusion caused by the new multisyarikah system.
"We have received nearly one hundred complaints so far. The contents vary, but the most prominent issue is the pilgrims' lost luggage since their arrival," Mustolih said when contacted on Thursday, May 15, 2025.
The National Commission on Hajj has also received many complaints about the new multisyarikah system implemented in this year's hajj pilgrimage. This system has caused hajj groups, including the teams and companions from the Guidance Group for Hajj and Umrah Worshipers (KBIHU), to be separated from each other.
"The pilgrims were surprised because they felt there was no socialization. Since they were in the homeland, they had been formed into groups and teams, accompanied by KBIHU. But it turned out that some could not get visas and were then grouped separately due to the different multisyarikah," he said.
According to Mustolih, the system has made it difficult and caused anxiety among the pilgrims. The situation is exacerbated by complaints from reserve pilgrims who suddenly canceled their departure, even though they had fulfilled all the requirements, including the payment of fees.
"There was a pilgrim in Cirebon who was ready to leave, had paid, had health clearance, but was suddenly canceled by the local Ministry of Religious Affairs office," he said.
In addition, the commission also received reports from pilgrims who had not yet received a Nusuk card, an important identity required to enter the Masjidil Haram and perform the hajj pilgrimage. However, these pilgrims had already moved from Medina to Mecca.
"This is also a serious problem that needs to be addressed immediately. The Nusuk card is the pilgrims' identity proof used during the upcoming hajj pilgrimage," said Mustolih.
The National Commission on Hajj conveyed that the Ministry of Religious Affairs is currently focusing on organizing the hajj pilgrimage, but still hopes that the pilgrims' complaints will be addressed swiftly to ensure the smooth running of the Hajj pilgrimage and the comfort of all Indonesian Hajj participants.
