TEMPO.CO, Jakarta Bank Indonesia (BI) reported that the broad money supply (M2) in June 2026 grew by 8.7 percent year on year (yoy) to reach Rp10,432.8 trillion. Ramdan Denny Prakoso, Executive Director of BI's Communication Department, explained that this M2 expansion followed a 10.8 percent (yoy) growth rate in May 2026.

"This trend was driven by the narrow money supply (M1) growing by 9.8 percent (yoy) and quasi-money by 6.9 percent (yoy)," Ramdan said in a written statement quoted by Antara on Thursday, July 23, 2026.

The performance of M2 in June 2026 was primarily influenced by credit disbursement and net claims on the central government. Credit disbursement grew by 12.1 percent (yoy), accelerating from 10.8 percent (yoy) in May 2026.

In this case, credit provided is limited to loans and excludes loan-equivalent financial instruments, such as debt securities, banker's acceptances, and repo bills.

The figures also exclude credit extended by foreign commercial bank offices as well as loans disbursed to the central government and non-residents. Meanwhile, net claims on the central government grew by 10.1 percent (yoy), slowing from the 37.4 percent (yoy) surge recorded in May 2026.

Furthermore, BI reported that adjusted primary money (M0) grew by 13.8 percent (yoy) in June 2026 to reach Rp2,228 trillion, following a 14.2 percent (yoy) expansion in May 2026.

This growth was driven by a 14 percent (yoy) increase in currency in circulation and a 12.7 percent (yoy) rise in demand deposits at Bank Indonesia. Accounting for these drivers, the growth of adjusted M0 reflects the impact of liquidity incentives under monetary control.
