TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto will inaugurate Deputy Minister of Agriculture Sudaryono as head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) today, July 22, 2026. Sudaryono replaces Nanik Sudaryati Deyang, who stepped down on the same day.
Minister of the State Secretariat Prasetyo Hadi announced the inauguration plan. "The President has decided that Sudaryono, who currently serves as Deputy Minister of Agriculture, will replace the head of BGN," Prasetyo said at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta.
According to Prasetyo, Sudaryono will not hold dual roles once he assumes leadership of BGN. Prasetyo noted that his fellow Gerindra Party member will relinquish his post at the Agriculture Ministry before taking charge of the agency tasked with executing the free nutritious meal (MBG) program.
Prasetyo added that Sudaryono is scheduled to be sworn in this afternoon. "The inauguration is set for this afternoon at around 3:00 p.m. WIB," he said.
Prasetyo noted that President Prabowo has accepted Nanik's resignation. "Finding a replacement was no easy task," he added.
He explained that Sudaryono was chosen to replace Nanik because of his involvement in developing the MBG program from its inception. "From the beginning, he has been involved alongside all of us, discussing and planning the technical rollout of the free nutritious meal program," the Minister of the State Secretariat said.
Nanik S. Deyang publicly announced her resignation from BGN via Facebook. She stated that she was stepping down to focus on undergoing heart treatment.
Nanik expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to assist President Prabowo with the MBG initiative after supporting him for over a decade. "Having stood by him for 14 years, I know that the MBG program is not for political purposes as accused by some people," she wrote on Wednesday, July 22, 2026.
In her post, Nanik hinted at the identity of her successor as BGN chief. She described her replacement as someone close to her whom she considers a younger sibling. "I can always pinch him if anything goes off course," she wrote.
Tempo sources at BGN revealed that Sudaryono would replace Nanik. Like Nanik, Sudaryono has long belonged to Prabowo's inner circle. He previously served as Prabowo's personal assistant prior to taking on roles in the Gerindra Party and the administration.
Beyond his government position, Sudaryono also holds a prominent role outside the administration. He serves as General Chairperson of the Indonesian Farmers Association (HKTI) for the 2025–2030 term. Prabowo previously held the exact same leadership post.
