TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia and the Philippines are strengthening bilateral cooperation in the health sector through the Indonesia-Philippines Business Health Forum (IPBHF) 2025, held in Davao City from May 15-16, 2025.

In a press release received by Tempo on Thursday night, the forum, hosted at the House of Indonesia, served as a strategic platform to promote economic relations between Indonesia and the southern Philippines region in the health sector, especially in addressing post-pandemic health challenges.

Agus Trenggono, Indonesian Consul General in Davao City, emphasized in his opening speech that IPBHF is a joint commitment to enhance cooperation and foster health resilience in both countries. This forum also aims to improve access to and innovation in healthcare for the people of both nations.

Roland T. Suico, President of the Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, expressed appreciation for the consistent efforts of the Indonesian Consulate General in Davao City in building cooperation across various fields, including trade, education, culture, and now the health sector. He noted that these efforts align with the shared mission to promote connectivity and sustainable development within the ASEAN region.

The forum facilitated a business matching session that included five Indonesian healthcare companies, representing 15 other companies under the Association for the Development of the Indonesian Healthcare Ecosystem (HIPELKI) and 50 healthcare companies from the southern Philippines.

Randy H. Teguh, Chairperson of HIPELKI, affirmed that Indonesian health products meet international safety, quality, and performance standards. In 2024, the export value of Indonesian healthcare equipment to the Philippines reached US$273 million, or approximately Rp4.58 trillion. With the organization of IPBHF 2025, it is hoped that the volume of trade between the two countries will increase, particularly in the health sector.
