
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Parts of Indonesia are expecting light rain showers on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, according to a weather forecast by the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).
BMKG forecaster, Medayu, cited by Antara, stated that in Sumatera, the city of Banda Aceh is predicted to see a partly cloudy sky, while light rain is expected to fall in the cities of Medan, Pekanbaru, Tanjung Pinang, Padang, Jambi, Pangkal Pinang, Bengkulu, Palembang, and Bandar Lampung.
For Java, partly cloudy weather is expected in Semarang, while cloudy skies are forecast to enshroud Surabaya. Meanwhile, thick cloud cover has the potential to envelop the cities of Jakarta, Bandung, and Yogyakarta. "Light rain is expected to fall in the city of Serang," said Medayu.
Moving to Kalimantan, the weather in Banjarmasin is expected to be cloudy, while Pontianak, Palangkaraya, and Samarinda will experience light rain. "Beware of rain accompanied by thunderstorms in the city of Tanjung Selor," he added.
In Bali and Nusa Tenggara, the weather in Kupang is predicted to remain cloudy, while Denpasar and Mataram will see thick clouds.
For Sulawesi, the cities of Makassar and Kendari are predicted to be cloudy, while light rain is expected to fall in the cities of Mamuju, Palu, Gorontalo, and Manado.
Weather forecasts in the regions of Maluku and North Maluku show heavy cloud cover in Ternate, while Ambon will experience light rain.
Moving to the Papua region, haze is expected to affect Merauke, while Jayapura and Jayawijaya are predicted to be cloudy. "The cities of Sorong, Manokwari, and Nabire are expected to see heavy clouds," Medayu stated.
BMKG also warns of the impact of tropical cyclone 92W in the waters west of Bengkulu to West Sumatra, from Riau to the Malacca Strait, from the west coast of Lampung to South Sumatra, in the southern Indian Ocean from East Java to West Java, South Kalimantan to East Kalimantan, from the southern part of Central Kalimantan to West Kalimantan, from the Maluku Sea to the northern coast of North Sulawesi, and from the Gulf of Tomini to the northern coast of Gorontalo. The tropical cyclone 92W can increase the formation of rain clouds.
